Farm Shop and Barn Kits in Saskatchewan

Engineered to Your Snow Load and Prairie Winds

Saskatchewan builds get tested harder than almost anywhere. Sixty degrees of temperature swing between January and July, open-prairie wind with nothing standing between you and it, and clay that expands and contracts under the footing. Every frame we ship is drawn to your loads and the National Building Code as adopted here, then stamped before fabrication.

What Saskatchewan does to a building

Wind, cold and clay. Each one changes something different about the frame or the footing it sits on.

The south - Regina, Moose Jaw and the open prairie

Wind is the governing load and there is nothing to break it. Bracing and anchor patterns are heavier here than the snow load alone would suggest.

Central and north - Prince Albert and up

Snow becomes the governing case. Purlins tighten and the roof gauge goes up.

Province-wide - cold, condensation and clay

An uninsulated steel building in a Saskatchewan winter will sweat on the inside of the panel. It is a vapour and insulation problem, not a defect, and it is far cheaper to specify the package with the frame than to chase it afterwards. Expansive clay and deep frost mean the footing needs designing for your ground rather than an average.

Our completed project pages are Ontario builds today. They are the same kits and the same engineering, drawn to Saskatchewan loads when they ship here.

Popular Agricultural Barn Kits

These are the sizes Saskatchewan farms order most. Every one is clear span, so nothing stands in the middle of your floor.

24x30 - the yard shop. Garages and small workshops around Saskatoon and Regina.

30x40 - the farm maintenance shop. Hobby shops and repair space, common through Moose Jaw and Yorkton.

40x60 - the working farm size. Equipment storage with a bay to work in, heated through the winter.

48x36 - the horse barn. Stalls and a tack room, with the option of lean-tos on each side.

60x120 and up - grain and machinery storage. Combine and equipment protection out through Swift Current and Weyburn, where clear span is the entire point.

Barndominiums in Saskatchewan

A shop and a home in one shell, engineered as a single frame. If that is what you are planning, start here.

Getting it to your site

Three to four weeks into the Regina and Saskatoon corridors once drawings are approved. Northern mining zones and deep rural addresses are quoted route by route rather than estimated. Because every frame is engineered to your address, freight is planned with the order rather than added at the end.

Frequently Asked Questions in Ontario

Will the footings handle the clay?

They will if they are designed for it. Expansive clay combined with deep frost will heave a standard footing. We supply the exact reaction loads so your contractor can design a floating slab or pile foundation for your soil rather than a provincial average.

Do farm buildings need a permit in Saskatchewan?

Farm buildings can fall under different rules than commercial or residential structures, and some rural municipalities still require a permit regardless. Confirm with your RM before ordering, because the answer genuinely varies. We supply engineered, sealed drawings either way.

Can I put the building up myself?

Most of our customers do, or they hire a local crew. The frame bolts together and ships with a full drawing set, and we can point you to installers across most of the province.

How big a clear span can I get?

Large enough for grain storage and machinery access with no interior posts at all. Tell us the widest thing you need to drive through and we will size the frame around it.
