What Manitoba does to a building

Regional snow loads climb as you go north and west. Purlin spacing tightens accordingly.

Province-wide - the deep freeze and the gumbo

An R-30 to R-40 insulation package is not overspecification here, it is what stops condensation forming on the inside of the panel through a long cold snap. And highly expansive clay combined with deep frost will heave a footing that was not engineered for it.

What will Red River gumbo do to my foundation?

Highly expansive clay combined with deep frost will heave a footing that was not engineered for it. We supply the exact reaction loads so your contractor can design a frost-resistant floating slab or deep-pile foundation for your ground rather than a provincial average.

Do I need a permit for a farm building in Manitoba?

Manitoba regulates larger farm buildings more tightly than its prairie neighbours, and size thresholds matter. Confirm the current requirement with your municipality before ordering. We supply drawings engineered to the Manitoba Building Code and sealed for the application.

Most of our customers do, or they hire a local crew. The frame bolts together and ships with a full drawing set, and we can point you to installers across most of the province.

How much insulation do I actually need?

More than a milder province. R-30 to R-40 is typical here, and it is as much about preventing condensation on the inside of the panel as it is about heating cost. Specify it with the frame rather than adding it later.
