Hurricane-force coastal wind is the governing load. That means heavy truss connections, wind-rated wall panels and an anchor pattern designed to resist roof lift rather than just hold the building down.
Cape Breton and the north
Les Suetes winds off the highlands combine with real snow loads, so both cases have to be carried rather than one traded against the other.
Province-wide - salt corrosion
Ordinary galvanized steel does not last near the Atlantic. Coastal builds get an aluminium-zinc coating, which is the difference between a building that survives decades of salt exposure and one that streaks rust early.

Getting it to your site
Three to four weeks into the Halifax and Truro corridors once drawings are approved. Cape Breton and the Eastern Shore are quoted route by route rather than estimated. Because every frame is engineered to your address, freight is planned with the order rather than added at the end.

Is the building engineered for hurricane winds?
Yes. Nova Scotia builds are designed to the wind loads at your address, with heavy truss connections and an anchor pattern intended to resist uplift. Post-tropical storms are treated as the design case rather than an exception.
Do I need a building permit in Nova Scotia?
In most cases yes, and requirements differ by municipality. Some smaller accessory structures may be treated differently, so confirm with your local building department before ordering. We supply engineer-sealed drawings for the application.
Can I put the building up myself?
Most of our customers do, or they hire a local crew. The frame bolts together and ships with a full drawing set, and we can point you to installers across most of the province.
Will the building rust near the ocean?
Not if it is specified properly. Coastal builds use an aluminium-zinc coated steel rather than plain galvanized, which holds up far better in salt air. Tell us the address and the coating is specified for the exposure it will actually see.
