The southwest coast

Sustained gales through the Wreckhouse corridor mean heavy framing and extreme cross-bracing, not a standard package with a wind upgrade bolted on.

The Avalon and the east

Heavy wet snow accumulates rather than blowing clear. Roof framing carries a load a dry-snow province never sees at the same figure.

Labrador and the interior

Northern snow loads and sustained deep cold. Purlin spacing tightens and thermal specification goes up. Province-wide, aluminium-zinc coated steel handles the aggressive coastal corrosion.

Getting it to your site

Freight is coordinated to North Sydney and crosses by Marine Atlantic to Port aux Basques or Argentia. Expect four to six weeks depending on crossings. Labrador is routed via the Trans-Labrador Highway and quoted case by case. The ferry is part of the freight plan rather than something left to you to arrange.

Will it stand up to the wind?

It is engineered to the wind load at your address, which in parts of this province is the highest we design for anywhere in Canada. That shows up in the framing weight, the cross-bracing and the anchor pattern.

Can you actually deliver to the island?

Yes. We coordinate freight to the ferry terminal and handle the Marine Atlantic crossing as part of the delivery. Expect four to six weeks, driven by ferry scheduling rather than fabrication.

Do I need a permit?

Larger municipalities such as St. John’s and Mount Pearl handle their own permits, while many rural areas go through the provincial service. Confirm which applies to your address before ordering. We supply engineer-sealed drawings either way.

Will it rust on the coast?

Not if it is specified properly. Builds here use an aluminium-zinc coated steel rather than plain galvanized, which stands up to aggressive North Atlantic salt exposure.
