Comparing suppliers is harder than it looks, because two quotes for the same footprint can differ in design load, gauge, coating, fastener type, door specification, freight terms and what is excluded. Send every supplier the same specification or the comparison is meaningless. Put the quotes side by side and check the same eleven things on each: design snow and wind loads used, frame type and spacing, panel gauge and coating, fastener type, secondary framing, whether engineering and stamped drawings are included, door and window specification by size and type, insulation if any, freight terms and destination, deposit and payment schedule, and the list of exclusions. The exclusions list is usually the most informative page in the document and the one people read last.
Two quotes that differ sharply on price almost always differ on one of those lines. A lower design load, a lighter gauge, a thinner coating or a shorter warranty is not a better deal, it is a different product. Equally, a supplier who cannot produce the engineering, cannot state the loads their building is designed to, or wants an unusually large deposit before drawings exist is telling you something useful.
